Safe Schools

  • Classes for staff on shooter drills.
  • Completed safety analysis on all schools with EM for Central Office.
  • Involved with the safety and security council with ECPPS.
  • Yearly SRO conference for new laws and trainings such as SOLO training.
  • Implemented a strict threat assessment protocol for all school threats.

War on Drugs

  • We had 1 narcotics agent when I took office, we now have 5 thanks to COPS grant and staff moving.
  • We have partnered with the SBI, FBI and HSI to obtain more resources to get this poison out of this county. Our deputies are sworn in as TFO’s with the agencies.
  • Through grants and seized funds we have also increased our tech game to better help our agents. Such as equipment, surveillance items and software, for information on someone of interest, type programs.
  • We have seized a huge amount of various drugs and guns.
  • We have successfully federally charged and put in prison 21 drug dealers, anywhere from approximately 6 to 25 years and working a sixth as we speak. It may not seem like a lot but with months and months of case work per suspect its good. With people now federally sworn we will have many more very soon.
  • We are also involved with PORT and Albemarle Overdose Prevention Coalition.
  • Partnership with Beloved Haven to combat human trafficking.

  • Approximately 90% of my deputies have their advanced or basic law enforcement certificate.
  • Implemented the Atlas program.
  • EAP and FMRT contracts put in place for the mental and physical health care of the deputies.
  •  Overall increase in personnel to include SRO’s, Investigators, patrol and a 4 deputy unit for the security at our courthouse, 2 special deputies at DSS, and a 6 Deputy division at Sentara Albemarle Hospital, all happening now through 2026.
  • Also partner with ECPD on a regular basis to work cases together and assist them whenever needed.
  • We help with Project Life Saver, example would be setting individuals up with Project Life Saver and also changing batteries for the equipment.
  • Offer part time security for citizens needs.
